Who We Are

Doctrinal Statement

River Hill Baptist Church is a historical Baptist church. By historical, I mean River Hill Baptist Church believes and preaches historical Baptist doctrine.

We believe the Bible is verbally inspired. We believe in God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and that the three persons are eternally, essentially, and equally God. We believe salvation is with the Bible alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone and that salvation is a work of God and not man.

We believe God calls every man to repent of their sins and believe on Christ as Lord, God, and Saviour. Unless a man repents and believes he will be eternally damned to the lake of fire in hell.

We believe Jesus was virgin born and that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the whole world.

We believe He arose bodily from the dead and that He ascended to heaven, where He now sits on the throne and that He will come again to rule and reign on planet earth.

We are premillennial in our eschatology, believing in the rapture of the church, followed by the bodily return of Jesus to the earth as her King to rule and reign for a thousand years.

We believe and preach the gospel doctrines of regeneration, justification, sanctification, glorification, redemption, reconciliation, propitiation, and eternal security of a true believer.

We practice baptism by emersion for believers to make public confession of saving faith and to join the local church. We believe in and practice the Lord’s supper as an ordinance of the church, we also believe and practice church discipline within the membership of the church.

We believe marriage is between a man and a woman only. We practice world missions and independent missions by giving money directly to the missionaries we support.

We believe in the Holy Spirit; the filling, leading, anointing, and gifting of the Spirit in the life of the believer, but we believe all sign gifts, including speaking in tongues ceased with the completion of the New Testament scriptures.

We practice regulative principal of worship. Not the normative principle of worship which means we do not accept forms of worship not found in the Bible. We don't accept rock n roll, rap, and country. We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We do not have dance teams nor drama teams. We are biblical and traditional with our worship style.

For a more detailed list of our doctrinal statement you can google the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, it’s the Baptist doctrinal statement from which all American Baptists churches drafted their doctrinal statement statements in the early years of our country.

We accept the 1689 Baptist confession as the gold standard of the Baptists doctrinal statements.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is infallible, inherit, and perfect Word of God.

Preaching

We believe that preaching is essential for reaching the lost as well as strengthening the saints.

Missions

We believe our job as the local church is to reach, not only our community, but the world with the Gospel of Christ.
